About

The engineer behind TwentyOneLabs.

I’m Niloy Kashyap. I started TwentyOneLabs in 2023 and I still do the work myself.

For over six years I’ve worked on the systems businesses depend on: servers, storage, virtualisation, Linux and Windows.

At Hewlett Packard Enterprise and VMware I worked on complex incidents for enterprise and public-sector customers across EMEA and North America. That’s where I learned what a critical outage feels like from the customer’s side, and why calm updates and good notes matter as much as the fix.

In 2023 I started freelancing through TwentyOneLabs, building private cloud and container platforms for small and medium businesses and helping them move to low-cost, open-source and self-hosted IT. I’m still doing it.

Along the way I did an MBA at Strathclyde Business School and finished with a Distinction. It means I look at IT the way you do: what it costs, what it risks, and whether it’s worth doing at all.

Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer (Freelance)

TwentyOneLabs

Freelancing through TwentyOneLabs, helping small and medium-sized businesses move to low-cost, open-source and self-hosted IT. Scoping, design, build, handover and ongoing support, all me.

  • Designed and built private clouds on clustered Proxmox VE, hosting client websites, private email, file storage and business apps on VMs and LXC containers.
  • Deployed containerised apps on Docker and Kubernetes behind NGINX reverse proxies, with load balancing, SSL/TLS certificates, Cloudflare DNS and firewall rules.
  • Built GitHub Actions pipelines for repeatable deployments, and used AWS (EC2, S3, Route 53), Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud where a client’s setup needed public cloud.
  • Built and deployed full stack apps for a UK waste and recycling platform, using AI-assisted coding and configuration.
